Create a quote that sells

April 5, 2017 / General / Company presentation

You can create a quote for a customer. That's good news! Or not? In practice, it turns out that many companies struggle with creating a quote. Be honest: how many of your quotes result in a deal? We're happy to help you improve this. Here are three things you should keep in mind when creating a quote.

#1 – The text

What you say is important, but how you say it is just as important. Write a catchy text that is understandable and businesslike. In correct Dutch, of course. Also name a convincing reason for sending the quote. Think of headings and punctuation marks to make the text readable. You don't make a quote without a follow-up appointment. Let the customer know when you will contact them or give the quote a term in which it is valid.

#2 – The content

You write the quotation based on a contact moment with your customer. During that conversation, your customer made statements about his question. Note these statements and come back to them in your quotation. Think about what you solve for the customer and respond to this. Convince your customer with facts and substantiate your results and activities with figures. For example: on January 1, 2018, I achieved a 10% increase in turnover.

#3 – The shape

There are several ways to create a quote. Do you choose a Word document, an interactive PDF or do you create a quote in a graphic program? Think about what suits your product or service and what suits the customer's organization. Can you get a large order? Then it is also appropriate to invest in the quote. Hire a professional to create the quote and have it printed on high-quality paper.
